Day 4 was very simple. My cute little town had a tree lighting ceremony tonight. I took the boys and got some cute photos of them in front of the tree.
Tonight, we trimmed the tree. Trevor and I decided to do it after Taylor went to bed. As we hung his new ornament, a football he chose himself, I couldn't help but imagine what next year will be like. If he'll be able to help us or not. I'm very anxious to see Taylor's reaction tomorrow, when he sees the lights and ornaments on the tree. For the past few days, he hasn't really payed much attention to the bare tree. Here's my left page: Testing out some lights I had from last year, which we couldn't use because half the strand was out. Here's my right page: The finished tree. Too bad my photos don't do it justice. I gotta learn how to take better pictures of lights and ornaments on the tree. I also included a 2x4 insert with the before tree with just the lights on the front, and the after tree all done and loaded with ornaments, old and new. I just love it! Welcome to Day Five! Today's story makes me laugh. We had a very productive Saturday, going all around and shopping at Target, Home Depot, Walmart, and the Christmas tree lot. We needed new lights for the tree, mistletoe, poinsettias, a light projector for the house, and some extension cords. Even though we needed to go to multiple stores, we found everything on our list. Finally, it was time to buy our tree. We must've circled around the lot 5 times. Then, I saw it. The perfect tree. We took it home and its too big, it scraped the ceiling. In that moment, all I could hear was Ellen from Christmas Vacation. "Clark, do you think there's enough room for the angel?" Trevor trimmed it up, and it looks awesome. Day five was all about our Griswold moment.
Welcome to December Daily 2012. The day I've waited for all year is finally here! I enjoyed this project so much last year, and I'm ready to go again. We did a lot on this first day of December, including shopping for lights, getting the decorations down from the attic, walking around the neighborhood, and Trevor putting up the lights on the outside of the house, but the story I was most excited for was buying a real tree this year. It reminds me of my childhood. We found a really good one too! Here is the left page, one large photo of Taylor at the Tree lot: And here is the right page: A picture of our little family in front of our tree. :) I used a 4x6 overlay created by Ali Edwards, found here . The word tree is a digital brush by Ali, which can be purchased on Designer Digitals . Above that I used some washi tape, and Dear Lizzy letter stickers that were included in the Studio Calico December Daily kit. Here's what day one looks like in my album: One d...
